Is Gas Safe the same as G3 qualified?
No — they are separate qualifications. Gas Safe covers gas appliances (boilers, gas fires, cookers). G3 is an additional Building Regulations qualification required specifically for working on unvented hot water cylinders. An engineer can be Gas Safe registered but not G3 qualified — in which case they are legally not permitted to service, repair or install an unvented cylinder.
